Proud to be an Indian??????????

Lately I have been getting forwarded mails on the topic 'be proud to be an Indian!!!'. Whenever I show these articles to my brother I somehow seem to get a detrimental remark! When I told him that we should be proud that India is next to the US in the production of engineers and researchers, he remarked that another survey report had told that only one third of them are working in the field related to their studies. Then I was told that students doing even BSc are considered to be potential research manpower!!!!!!!!!!
And yet another point for the Indians to be proud about their country (as mentioned in the fwd mail) is that India never invaded any other country in the last 1000 years of their history!! But even I could not accept this statement, leave alone my brother. I think we were under foreign occupation during most part of our history; We were not able to protect ourselves; leave alone going and invading an other country!
And another point was that India has had the maximum number of winners in Miss Universe and Miss World contests (six). Ya this is gr8 but nothing really to be proud of!!!!!
And the last 1 was that India have the largest number of motorcycles in the world and as usual the reason my arrogant brother gave was that Indians do not have the money power to buy cars as ppl do in developed countries. So none of the statistics in that forward made me proud to be an Indian partly because they lacked logic and partly because of my unpatriotic (?????) brother!!!!!
Although his reasoning was acceptable, I somehow couldn't digest them.
I dun no whether I am an ultra nationalist or my brother is not patriotic enough towards our country!
May b the former is correct...may be he is more realistic!!! :(

How did this start?

To tell u ppl the truth i never knew the meaning of blogging until recently. I used to see my brother and friend blog; but I was never quite interested in it. One day my brother told how the Iraqis exposed the true story in the Iraq-US war using blogging as a medium. Then I realized how powerful blogging, as a communication medium is...so here I am trying my hands at blogging.
look out for my blogs in the future
cheers!
