Life @ IIML

At last my mid sems are over and so have my other committee tasks. I wanted to blog a lot but just couldn't get the time.
I finally got my laptop last week.We had bought that through the Bulk deal.We have nearly saved 20k on Lenovo ThinkPad. But it had been a long wait of over a month...
Life has been hectic for the past 1 month for me. Many over here wont agree with me. May be it wasn't like that for everyone.... Here you can either chill or slog, its entirely your choice. If you dont want to be part of any committee or club, you would be having enough time in hand for your studies. But if you want to be involved in some extra curricular activities, life at IIML can really be a Hell. And that's what is happening with me.
I get to sleep just for 4- hours a day. It's not because the acads are heavy. It's because there is so much better to do out here than sleeping. I got hold of some of the best English classic collections on LAN here. I don't think I would be having enough time to watch all of them.
One big difference I'm finding out here is that the things which I used to do in my engineering college to differentiate myself from others is being done by everybody here. Thats making my job doubly difficult. Some people do much more work than the prof had asked for; ultimately making everyone work harder. All because of RG giri. It's driving me crazy.
You have got all sort of people here; from people who have no idea why they are here to people who have a certain goal to achieve over the course of next 2 years. Especially the freshers from IITs are extremely cynical about the whole IIM system, especially two of my hostel mates out here- Octa and Prabhav. There are two reasons---
One, they have experienced a similar life before, so nothing new about the IIM system. In fact IIMs just doesnt give you any free time like the IITs.
Two, they dont have work experience and have absolutely no idea how a work life would be. So they think subjects like Business Comm and Org Behavior are useless.
I am amazed how differently a guy with just a one year work ex and a guy with zero year work ex percieve the relevance of the same course. Freshers think that Org Behavior and Business Comm are all globe. On the other hand people with work ex think that they are the most relevant of all the subjects being taught.
Anyways it has been quite a interesting one month for me. Planning to blog more in the coming 2 months as workload will be a lot lesser as we have just five courses.
